- The centerpiece for a lot of the State Fair of Texas's activities. Located north of the Cotton Bowl and around Fair Park Coliseum is the Livestock Area. Consisting of over 20 different animal pavilions, the animal compounds can hold up too 100,000 animals at any given time, ranging from chickens, horses, swine and cattle. The Pan American Arena is part of the large complex of animals barns.
- Perhaps the most famous of the compounds is the 1936 Swine Pavilion. George Dahl created an beautiful Art Deco house for the swine and their owners. Consisting of a show arena in the center with grandstands on either side and over 300 holding pens. The compound even has dorms for those who wish to stay close to their animals. A lot of the 1961 remake of "State Fair" was filmed in this very building.
