 - The most beautiful building in Dallas. The Hall of State was the centerpiece for the 1936 Texas Centennial.

 - Built in 1935 at the head of the Esplanade, the Hall of State was constructed to represent the history and legacy for Texas. The entrance features a large portico with a "Tejas Warrior" guarding the entrance doors and gilded in gold leaf. The exterior of the building is clad in native Texas limestone and features the names of people who helped shape Texas into the state it is. The names are engraved into the limestone around the entire complex.

 - The first room in the Hall of State is the Hall of Heroes, featuring statues of some of the greatest men in Texas history. At the top of the half-circle room, there are listings of the significant battles and locations of the Texas Revolution. The six statues feature: James Fannin, Mirabeau Lamar, Steven F. Austin, Sam Houston, Thomas Rusk and William Travis. Each statue features the figure of the man and a plaque commemorating their place in history. Directly behind the Hall of Heroes is the Great Hall. The Great Hall features a large gold medallion at the back of the room representing the "Six Flags of Texas". The hall also features large murals on the sidewalls.

 - To the left of the entrance are the East and West Texas Rooms. These rooms feature large murals representing early Texas life. The rooms are now research rooms with West Texas room being open by appointment only. To the right of the entrance are the North and South Texas rooms. The rooms are decorated with large murals as well and are currently only used for exhibit space. The lower level of the Hall of State feature the office of the Dallas Historical Society and archive storage, the Margaret and Al Hill Auditorium and the American Museum of Miniature Arts.
