- One of a few buildings to survive the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition development.
- In 1936, George Dahl renovated the 1929 structure with an Art Deco front to blend the building in with the rest of the new structures. The arena features 1,200 permanent seats with a dirt floor mainly for rodeo and animal show uses. The west side of the building features an enclosed animal storage facility, which features a petting zoo during the State Fair of Texas. The back west side of the building feature a large outdoor corral where animals are kept for guests to pet.
- During the State Fair of Texas, the area complex features a food court and western store. In 1998, the building got a facelift in the rear portion of the complex. The Dallas Police Mounted Unit relocated their Headquarters to the location and currently stores all their horses. The horse stables in the rear of the building also received a large facelift. The building is closed except during the State Fair. Inside you will find concrete seats, no A/C and some interesting shows, just how the State Fair was back in 1929.
